Its all about the mouth lately..

I can't get over the fact that I have to re-schedule the boys pictures ever time I make the appt. I realize they are boys and that getting hurt is just something inevitable and that they will always have some kind of scratch or bump on their face or head. But come on, whats with the lip injuries...??!!

Kaycen on July 2nd about put both front teeth through his bottom lip and suffered with a fat lip for a few days. He was such a trooper though, didn't complain much.

Less than 5 days later Keyton and Kaycen were jumping on my bed and Kaycen ate the foot board. I didn't see it but he bled twice as much as the first injury. I was sure stitches were in order for this injury. Once I got the bleeding under control it took my brother (who is a P.A.) stopping in and then Kaycen would let us look at how bad it was.. well stitches definitely were not going to fix it. I was thankful for not having to visit the ER again. When he fell it scrapped the skin/gums just above his teeth up pretty far. Looks way worse than it is. I wanted to get a pic just because I couldn't even believe he got hurt again in the same place.
See the black right above his teeth (that is the exposed gums that bled like crazy)
A couple days later he was outside running around and tripped once over the hose but caught himself with his hands. Well needless to say the second time he was running a little faster and didn't have enough time to catch himself from eating the dirt. Unfortunately he cut open an old tooth wound from the first fall..

I think I need to invest in a helmet or mouth guard. He sure is trying to knock out some teeth.

Keyton had to go to the dentist last Thursday because he had a tooth that had an exposed nerve. I think I was more nervous about it than he was. The laughing gas did its work and actually put him right to sleep. I think it made them nervous (because I sure was) and the dentist kept doing everything he could to wake him up and he just wouldn't. After about 5 minutes with just oxygen he was just taking a nap and we could wake him enough then he would go back to sleep. They quickly hurried to finish and when they were done he woke up. It was like a dream come true visit for a mom. He didn't remember a thing. The worst is over and know just have to go back in for a couple more little cavities. They told him he was their poster board child because of how great he was. He didn't even move at all when they numbed him and that's the worst part I think. Well since he was numb for hours I bought him a milkshake and he was really good about not biting his cheek so I let him go off and play instead of staying right by me. 10 minutes later he came back and had chewed his lip raw. Poor kid, it hurt and took 2 weeks to heal completely. Please oh, please, let the mouth injuries heal :)
The second picture is the face Keyton would pull when we asked to see his lip. Britt would just bust out laughing every time. So glad its all healed!

Weekend in Palisades & Goodbye Mr. Binkie!!

boys swinging
The weekend of July 24th we were invited by Travis and Aschli to go up to her parents cabin in Palisades. We figured it would probably be the only time we would go camping (if you consider staying in a cabin camping). Well I had ordered a Bountiful Basket and when we decided to go I tried so hard to get someone to pick it up for me and no takers ;( So I remembered some of our friends that live in town and called and told them if they could pick it up it was theirs to enjoy :) Off friday to the cabin we went. Once we got there the boys ran outside all over and we decided to start a fire and roast some hotdogs and marshmallows...
Kaycen was covering his face because the fire was so big and hot. It was so cute.
Kaycen even went and found his own roasting stick. I laughed because it actually was a pretty good one and had two ends. I think they liked playing in the fire more than eating the food.

The next morning we ate a yummy breakfast and headed out on a long four-wheeler ride. That's where I lost my camera. I was so sad, but was not too sad because I had just taken off all my pictures before that weekend. Well I got home called the police department, posted it 2 newspapers, and online. Tuesday evening I got a call from a guy that was on a family reunion who found my camera. Miracles do happen ;) I was sure I wouldn't be seeing that camera again.

Saturday night Kaycen bit off the end of his last binkie. He was so sad about it and I think I was even more sad. Its been a real saver of hearing a bunch of whining and crying but should have been gone months ago. The first two nights he woke up crying for an hour wanting it. I just gave him the hard plastic part and told him broken. I actually thought he would go through a worse withdrawal, but he actually did well and every time he would want it (either bedtime or when he got hurt) he would say "binkie, broken, sippy" so I would get his sippy and he would just be fine. I am so glad he was the one who pulled the sucky end off because if it would have been anyone else I am sure it wouldn't have been so easy. Note to self for future reference... Take binkie away no later than one years of age.

Britt and Kaycen looking off the deck out at the Palisades Reservoir.

We had such a great time, ate SO much food, almost burnt down the cabin. Good times! The boys had so much fun it took them two days to recover. That's some serious playing.

Fourth of July Weekend Fun

The 4th of July is kind of a tradition for the Briggs family to all get together. Friday the 2nd (my birthday) everyone arrived. That evening we enjoyed a very yummy dinner courtesy of Chiz's :) Then for our entertainment Britt's mom hired a Magician. We all kind of chuckled and especially because of where we live that he could be any good. Well did he prove us all wrong! He was AWESOME and had some really cool tricks. Kids to adults loved it.

Right when the Magician arrived Kaycen decided it would be a good idea to slip off the side of the patio and hit the side of the concrete pad face first. I was sure when I picked him up we were going to be headed to the ER. It bled really bad and I kept saying.. should we take him in, will he be ok? Times like these you sure hate being the parent and trying to make the decision to take them in to the doctor or not. Well we didnt take him in and the bleeding stopped. The next day is when I got these pictures. His two front teeth almost went completely through his top lip. We dont know yet but we will see if his teeth got hit enough that they will die. Poor kid, he sure has been a trooper and not complained about it since. Britt nicknamed him 'Beaker' because he looks like he has a beak instead of a lip. Poor kid!

That night we lit off some of Fort Hall's finest fireworks !

Saturday the 3rd we started with a delicious apple pancakes breakfast, YUMM-O!! Then headed off to the Ashton Parade. One word describes the parade.... BBRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I couldnt get over the fact that is was only 50 degrees and everyone was wearing long pants and jackets. Just didnt feel like the fourth of July.
After the parade we headed up to Warm River to feed the fish. They were huge this year and lots of them. This is a tradition after the Ashton Parade.

The fam wanted to check out Mesa Falls and we havent been up there is a couple years (which is so sad because I just love it there, so pieceful).
After Mesa Falls it was back the the Briggs' for the annual bbq with family & friends. I think I ate myself sick that day... well lets just say all weekend for that matter ;) The kids had fun with their squirt bottles for water fights and the white trash redneck slip n' slide.
About 8:30 that night we headed down to the very annual fireworks in Idaho Falls courtesy Melaleuca Fireworks.
Sunday was a day of rest... and rest we did :)

Monday Heidi, Jamey and Cedes were still here. So we loaded up and went out to the Sand Dunes for a litte fun. It was a bit windy but we didnt let that spoil our fun. The boys and I hung around the Egin Lakes and rode the dunes just around the lakes while the others took a ride on the big dunes. The boys had so much fun splashing and wadding around in the water.
What a great weekend. We had so much fun and are now in recovery ;) Thanks Briggs' family for a fun and very rememberable 4th of July!!

Keyton's run in with the mosquito's

Keyton is just like Britt and has this terrible allergic reaction to mosquito bites. Well he got his first one and the first one always is not too bad. Little did I know he actually got his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th bite as well. So the next morning he woke up and his ear looked a little red and swollen. I just thought he slept on it wrong but when it didnt go away and kept swelling I knew something was up. It swelled up three times the original size. He looked like Dopey from the seven dwarfs. It was so sad. It took about a day and a half of benedryl and ice for it to look the way is should again.
Later that day I went to find Keyton because I hadnt heard him in awhile and this is what I found... fast asleep outside on the ground :)

The last week...

The kittens have really been fun lately. Its funny how they have such different personalities. Here are a few pics Keyton and I got of them the other day.
This is their best hiding place, under the lawn mower and then both boys can't get them.

Skoot playing around.

I went outside to find Keyton and this is what I found.. yep, in his underwear... and then he found 2 very long dandylions that he thought would be funny to use as antennas.

Last night I held another craft night. It was fun visiting and making this cute flag. I am going to make a couple extra flags and also make firecrackers today. So excited! Thanks Kim for letting us use all your wood shop tools and home.
