Just another journal entry...

Last Wed. July 20th I went back in to see my midwife. She checked me and said that I was still 80% thinned but dilated to a 3. She was leaving on vacation for over a week so she stripped my membranes to see if that would get things moving. It did, for about 4 hours, but nothing under 5 minutes apart for an hour. The very next day I went back in because if it didn't happen she said to come back and she would strip them again. This time she said I was dilated to a very stretchy 4, and still really thin. She stripped again, harder this time. I went home, an hour later started again with regular contractions but then again, they slowed down a few hours later, and then stopped when I went to bed. I then Friday morning called and left her a message to call me to see what to do next... she never returned my call (which is uncharacteristic of her). Leading me into a weekend of unknown... My low back labor and nerves running down my legs have been very painful. I never felt this way with the other boys and the unknown is killing me. Monday July 25th and still no baby, I called and made an appt with Dr. Robison the next day to see what if anything had changed. Tuesday afternoon I went in and he said I was still a 4 and he thought 75% thinned. Because I tested positive with group strep b I have to have the antibiotic for at least 4 hours before I delivery. Because I was at a 4 and so thin, and have had previous babies, he was really concerned if I would have enough time to get the full 4 hours in before delivery once my water broke, or my body went into labor. He was on call at the hospital that night, and just really on the fence as to induce me or not. He said he doesn't like to induce until you are at least 39 weeks and Tuesday I was 38 and 4 days. I started having contractions on my own while sitting in the waiting room, then after he checked me and told me to not wait to get straight into the hospital if I had any real labor signs I went home. On the way home I was having contractions 5 minutes apart... this continued for another 2.5 hours... I just kept going back and forth on what to do, call l&d, just go in, AH!! I was done making decisions and Britt wouldn't make them for me. Needless to say, I waited long enough that the contractions slowed down and eventually stopped when I went to bed.... After waking up and realizing if I would have went in I know that Dr. Robison wouldn't have sent me home, I was depressed! Britt's Grandma Briggs passed away wed. morning as well. Her funeral is Saturday and now I am more depressed cause I don't know when the baby is going to come. I have been having lots of cramping and sharp pains at night. This is just crazy, I never felt like this with either of the other boys, so I don't know if its because its a summer, subsequent baby, I am older, or what. But I can say this... not sure if I want to do this again!! Everyone says I will forget and want another, but time will tell, and my memory and these posts will quickly remind me ;)

Baby Update..

I went to the doctor this morning. After over 2 hours last night of having steady contractions 7 minutes apart and then going to bed, waking up to just a few contractions here and there. She checked me and said I was still 80% thinned but I was progressing and dilated to a little more than a 2. The last two nights my gall gladder has really been giving me grief. I have been so sick, scared to eat much of anything that it wont agree with me. I guess when I got on the scale today and she said, "you lost 5 pounds" I wasn't really shocked because I knew I had been so sick the past week. Anyways, here's to Britt rubbing my feet Friday night and praying for a baby to come this weekend...oh and I just might rub my own feet early, shhh dont tell Britt ;)

Baby, really?? AHHH!!!

Quick Journaling 7/9/11--
I guess since I found out I was pregnant I just kind of forgot about it. Meaning that I didn't think beyond the pregnancy stage. At 34 weeks we had come to an agreement on a first name, working on a middle name still. I have had lots of back pelvic pain and the Braxton Hicks contractions have been as regular as blinking your eyes. I was sure that I was having the baby over the 4th of July weekend. Well last night Britt told me he wasn't sure about the first name we chose... ahhhhhh... ok, I am just not going to think about a name anymore until he is born, then I will just hope we bring him home not nameless :) I have been thinking the last couple of days about a sweet tender newborn and the wonderful spirit they bring, I am ready, I need some sweet tender feelings right now. Last Wed. I felt really good, Thursday night a little rough, and then Friday was my doctors appointment. I am now 36 weeks along and because of all the contractions and sharp pains and feeling like he is going to just fall out of me (and because I had to get my group strep b test) I had my midwife check me to see if everything I was feeling was maybe a big joke...
To my surprise (kinda) she immediately said... wow his head is RIGHT there!! You are 75-80% thinned (more on the 80 %) and dilated to a one. It kinda freaked me out because if I remember right I went in on a Thursday with Kaycen and she checked me and I was 90% thinned and almost a 2 dilated and baby's head super low and then my water broke that Saturday morning. So if I followed tradition my water will break tomorrow morning!! HOLY COW!! Freaking out a little over here.. not sure if its because I don't have a kid in diapers anymore so the whole 'baby' thing is going to feel so brand new again or what.. I guess it means I better get to a store and buy at least a 'coming home' outfit for the baby. I am almost scared to go anywhere that my water will just break! Last night I got up 4 times to use the bathroom and every time I said a little prayer, oh please, oh please not yet! Who says that at the end of a pregnancy?!!lol. When I left the doctors office I told my midwife I would see her next Thursday for my morning appt then I was going to have the baby Friday :) She said good plan, I almost think she thinks I will go before then but doesn't want to freak me out, lol. So, long story short, please pray that baby will stay put for one more week so he can be 37 weeks. Until then, Britt refuses to rub my feet (which put me in labor with Kaycen) while my feet keep swelling like water balloons... I think we need to go to Grandma's today so I can soak my legs and feet in the pool!
